EF EUROMAYDAY 008 AACHEN
Thursday May 1st 2008, 9:30 a.m. - midnight.
On several venues in Aachen.
The EF invites all Euregion Meuse-Rhine lovers and haters to accompany the EF crew on the Euromayday 008 event in Aachen, the historical Capital of the EU, and help make of the Euregion Meuse-Rhine the first genuinely democratic Euregion in the EU!!
As part of the EF's Year of the Euregional Citizen, the EF will hit the streets on labour day. It organizes a mobile, in situ forum on the occasion of the Euromayday parade in Aachen. This manifestation is organized to give attention to the awarding of the prestigious Karlspreis (also known as 'the oscar of the EU') to Angela Merkel. Click here to read the Karlspreis' jury's justification of this year's choice. Over the entire Europe festivities will be organized to celebrate this remarkable event.
The EF will join the parade in Aachen and interpellate the participants on Euregional and related matters. A film crew will document the entire day.

Practical information:
- The Euromayday Parade Aachen consists of different actions and events. Meeting point for the EF Euromayday 008 is Aachen's Central Stationbetween 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m, where the march 'Shut down Europe' will take off with Aachen's Town House, where the Karlspreis will be officially awarded to Merkel by no one less than French president Nicolas Sarkozy, as its final destination. You will recognize the EF crew by the banner with the EF logo. Introduce yourself to the EF crew. They will provide you with all the necessary information as to the course of events. From then on the EF will joint the democratic crowds on their march through Europe's Capital.
- If you can't make it at the Central Station, you can also meet up with the EF Eurmayday 008 at 12.30 p.m. in the PontStrasse where the Euromayday parade itself will take off.

- In the evening there will be several EuroMayDay after-parties all over the city with lively debates on all kinds of issues relevant for the democratization of the Euregion Meuse-Rhine.
- The evening before, a debate will be held under the heading: 'Unser Europa ist das nicht!' in the main building of the RWTH (Rheinisch-Westfällishen Technische Hochschule Aachen), Templergraben 55.

First Euregio Meuse-Rhine Democracy Awards awarded (19-5-08)
On May 24th 2008, during the EF KunstTour, the first two Euregion Meuse-Rhine Democracy Awards will be officially handed out to Wim Cuyvers of the project Traces of Autism: Wander Research in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine and to Saskia Gorgels-Lindelauf of the KvK Limburg. On May 1st, the EF will organize a mobile forum during the Euromayday Parade in Aachen, which is organized on occasion of the awarding of the Karlspreis to Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy.
Weekend of Euregional debates during Kunsttour 2008 (14-4-08)
On Saturday the 24st of May, the EF will organize a full day of debates, interviews and live columns in the Jan van Eyck Academy as part of the Kunsttour (art fair) 2008 in Maastricht. The gravitational point of the event will be a House of Commons (Lagerhuis) in which Euregional issues will be discussed and voted on. EF aims at the people of the Euregion (1-1-08)
On January 1st, the EF launched its new campaign for the year 2008 with the motto: The EF comes to the people of the Euregion Meuse-Rhine!. After two years of expert meetings, the EF will now organize a series of popular events in which the citizens and users of the Euregion Meuse-Rhine will occupy centre stage.
